The Lantern Basslet ((Serranus baldwini) is a great fish for beginners. They should not be kept with other small fish or shrimp. They will not bother corals. They like a tank with a lot of rock work providing caves and hiding places. Lantern Basslets can be kept together as long as they are added at the same time. These fish should be fed a varied diet consisting of mysis, brine, and other meaty foods. They should be housed in a 30+ gallon tank with a good fitting lid. Max size is roughly 4.5".
