The Porcupine Puffer (Diodon holocanthus) is a semi-aggressive fish that is not reef compatible. They will eat invertebrates. It needs a 72"+/180+ gallon aquarium, when full grown. The aquarium should have plenty of space to swim around and a good protein skimmer for nutrient removal. When threatened, or scared, Puffers have the ability to inflate their bodies. Please transfer puffers from the bag to the aquarium, or acclimation container, while submerged, using a bag instead of a net. There are health risks to the fish if they inflate with air, rather than water. Parts of this fish's tissue are poisonous if digested. The diet of this fish should contain meaty foods like krill, squid, clams, and hard shelled shrimp to help wear down their teeth. Max size is around 12". Shipping size is small/medium (2" - 4").
