The French Angelfish (Pomacanthus paru) is a stunning fish hailing from the tropical Atlantic/Caribbean waters. A full grown adult will require an 84” 220 gallon+ aquarium with plenty of hiding places and rock work for grazing on. They can become territorial and keeping them with other Angels can be tricky. They are almost always aggressive towards their own species. Juveniles have a remarkable appearance with vibrant yellow bodies adorned by dark black vertical bands, and blue markings on their ventral fins. As they mature into adults, their colors evolve into a regal blend of yellow and black. Juveniles usually take 18-24 months to completely transform to their adult colors. French Angels are likely to nip at stony and soft corals, sessile invertebrates, and clam mantles. We only recommend Angels from the genus Genicanthus for reef aquariums, though some people successfully keep others with their corals. Their diet should consist of marine algae, spirulina, mysis, brine, and other meaty foods. Ocean Nutrition makes a food with marine sponge that is critical for Angels in this genus. Ships as a Small - Sm/Md 1.5" - 2.5". Their max size is around 15”.
