The Lamarck Angelfish (Genicanthus lamarck) is a fish that should be housed in a 125+ gallon aquarium with plenty of hiding places. Like other species from the Genicanthus genus, these are considered reef safe, but please be aware that individual behavior can vary. They sexually dimorphic. Both male and female are are a silvery-gray with horizontal black stripes from eye to caudal fin. The female has bolder stripes with one extending into and covering the length of the caudal fin. In both, the long dorsal fin is black, although larger in the female, and the caudal fin is freckled with black. Males may fight with other males of the same species. Their diet should consist of marine algae, spirulina, mysis, brine, and other meaty foods. As planktivores, these fish prefer to pick their food out of the water column as opposed to grazing. Their max size is around 9". Sold as a 2"-3" juvenile/female. Sex may change with age.
